Despite his appearance Takaomi is a talented doctor specializing in internal medicine. He also has a surgeon's license. However he lives in a very poor semi-quarantined area making it difficult to find proper supplies and equipment. So he literally has a back alley office, though he does his best to provide his patients with the best care he can give.
He is afflicted with a condition known as the 'Chimera Disease'. Those with the disease have parts of their body changed into that of another species to varying extremities. Takaomi's strains allows him to turn into a half-wolf like creature, though the more wolf like he becomes the harder it is for him to maintain control of himself and he has a greater chance of going berserk. His strain is rare in that he can even shift at all, most people are stuck looking part beast for the rest of their lives, Takaomi can at least appear completely human most of the time. He's also constantly hungry, the hungrier he is the harder it is for him to maintain his human form and sense of self.
